FAQ

About Stash.com Popular Products and Services?

Stash.com is an investment app that combines features of a brokerage account and a robo-advisor with an online banking account. It's a convenient and easy-to-use platform that could be a great choice for people who want to learn about investing. The platform offers a good selection of investment assets and managed portfolios that deliver robo-advisor functionality. It also includes an online banking account with budgeting tools. Debit card purchases earn rewards in fractional shares of stock. However, the banking account doesn't earn any interest and the monthly subscription fees can be expensive for smaller portfolios. The robo-advisor only manages taxable investments. There are no human financial advisors and no automatic tax-loss harvesting. Stash is a good choice for people who are just starting to learn about saving and investing. Users get an investment account and an online banking account with Stash, helping them to coordinate their financial goals. For example, users can gradually fund their investment by rounding up purchases to the nearest dollar using a Stash debit card, depositing the rounded amount in the app’s brokerage account. Stash’s robo-advisor functionality provides a managed portfolio tailored to users' risk tolerance and goals, where the platform selects investment assets and manages them. More hands-on investors can design their own investment portfolios. However, all this convenience comes with a relatively high price tag. Stash charges flat monthly subscription fees, and while they only amount to a few dollars a month they’re still quite expensive relative to other options available, especially for smaller portfolio balances. Moreover, the banking account does not offer an annual percentage yield (APY), making it a poor option for savings. If users are looking for a more comprehensive service, they can probably get a better deal by choosing a dedicated robo-advisor platform. People looking to grow as self-directed investors should check out an online brokerage account. Consider an online savings account if users want an app to stash their cash with a high APY.

Stash also offers a variety of ETFs, ranging from value and growth stocks to commodities and bonds. Users can also purchase stocks from individual companies or fractional shares of stock. Additionally, Stash offers the Stock-Back® Card, which allows users to earn up to 3% in stock with every swipe. Users can also learn how to trade options through Stash.
